Keystone has published a retrospective on more than a year of work supporting Zcash across its hardware, firmware, and companion-wallet integrations.
Milestones
- In late 2024, Keystone and the Zashi team began sharing early integration builds and testing progress.
- In early 2025, Least Authority reviewed the Zcash integration, and Cypherpunk firmware V2.0.2 shipped ZEC management through Zashi.
- Later releases added passphrase support and continued improving recovery options for Zcash users.
- Multi-coin firmware and Nexus subsequently added a separate path for transparent ZEC management.
- Work continued as Zashi became Zodl, alongside additional wallet integrations.
These are distinct usage paths. A supported hardware-signing workflow does not by itself make every transaction shielded: users should confirm the wallet, address type, and transaction details before signing.
