Cypherpunk firmware V2.2.6 adds passphrase support for Zcash and includes improvements to Shamir Backup handling.
A passphrase derives a different wallet from the same recovery phrase. It can help separate wallets or add an access-control layer, but it does not change the on-chain privacy properties of a Zcash transaction.
Before enabling a passphrase
- Record and verify your recovery procedure before moving funds.
- A different or mistyped passphrase opens a different wallet; the device cannot tell you that the intended passphrase was entered incorrectly.
- Losing the passphrase can make the associated wallet unrecoverable even if the recovery phrase is available.
- Do not store the passphrase together with the recovery phrase.
